Project Cargo

Seamless transition from ship to rail.

Building Canadian infrastructure,
one delivery at a time

The Port of Prince Rupert is well positioned to provide a Canadian gateway solution for project cargo destined for Western Canada. Prince Rupert's proximity between Asian fabrication centres and large BC and Alberta energy, mining and resource projects provides a cost, distance, reliability and cost advantage over traditional project cargo gateways in North America. Away from the congestion of major population centres, the Port of Prince Rupert provides attractive rail and road access to shippers transporting steel, machinery and oversized cargo.

The RoRo (roll-on roll-off) ramp operation is located within the Port on Ridley Island, with commercial-only access to the CN rail network and the Trans Canada Highway 16. The site provides a 2.6 hectare (6.5 acre) laydown area.
